Chaga Mushrooms have become a darling of the health and wellness world in the past decade. Believed to convey numerous health benefits, Chaga Mushrooms (Inonotus obliquus) have been harvested, boiled, and consumed for centuries throughout Northern Europe and Russia. Rich in beta-glucans with anti-cancer properties and is generally makes an excellent overall anti-viral and immune supportive tonic. Brewing a tonic with 40g of wild harvested Canadian Chaga makes 1L and is re-brewable! Chaga grows wild in the Canadian north on Yellow and White Birch trees, often taking years to fully mature into what looks like protruding charcoal chunks. This excellent quality chaga is wild harvested in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario and is verified Health Canada approved thanks to our friends and partners at Tao Tea Leaf (NPN 80080711). How to prepare Chaga Mushroom: 1. Bring to a boil 1L of water. Let cool to approximately 70C. Add in 1-2 Chaga chunks (40g) and let boil for 20min. This will give you a refreshing decoction. 2. Alternatively, brew the Chaga for 8hours to create a rich and potent tonic. Expect the water to become dark, similar to black coffee. Next, strain the liquor into a cup or re-sealable glass and enjoy. You can store the Chaga decoction for several days in a refrigerator or freeze any excess in ice-cube trays for later consumption. You can also reuse each chunk several times, simply re-brew it until the water no longer becomes dark. Always consult a qualified health care professional before trying a medicinal plant, especially if you take medicines or have a health condition, because consuming it may lead to unwanted effects.
