beTeas is proud to offer this exclusive puer collected in limited quantity by "The Tea Explorer", Jeff Fuchs. Fuchs is renowned for acquiring high quality puer from remote villages in Yunnan province of China. Pa Sa is a delicate and floral Sheng with a relatively heavy bud content, and therefore a tea of the utmost subtlety and smooth lines. It is hard to over-steep - so forgiving are its materials. Located east of Nannuo Mountain in southern Yunnan Province in an isolated region of ancient tree growth and untainted soils, Pa Sa Puer Village has long produced teas consumed and coveted by local Yunnan drinkers and buyers, for its accessibility and ultra clean finish. Like many of the regions in and around Pa Sa, the tea biomes are bio-diverse empires where ferns, bamboo, and mosses grow intermingling with the tea bushes and trees. Source materials come from bushes and small trees that are 60-70 years old and are allowed grow unfettered by over-pruning. The local Hani people have long encouraged (and allowed) bio-diversity within their tea forests. In the case of this Autumn 2021 harvest, the resultant leaves carry smooth herb and camphor notes, which can be traced back to its 1700-metre forest home. Even fresh new harvests from Pa Sa can feel restrained as though all of the sharp vegetal and mossy notes, have been tempered. A clear light lemon nectar and a refined nose hint at a tea that is an ideal first sip of the day when the palate is clean. A tea that will only become more elegant with age, this fragrant Pa Sa offering is an already settled sipper and ready for more immediate consumption. Fuchs was the first westerner to complete the entire 5,000 km's of the heralded Tea Horse Road from southwestern Yunnan over the Tibetan Plateau and down into India - a journey that took 8 months by foot and cemented not only the route but the crucial timelessness of tea within Asia. He is the author of the resultant book, Penguin-Viking's 'The Ancient Tea Horse Road', and is the subject of the 2018 CBC Documentary, "The Tea Explorer".
