beTeas is delighted to acquire this unique version from one of our preferred tea estates, direct from the garden. New Vithanakande is renowned to be one of the finest makers in this region of Sri Lanka. This "1st Dhool" is rarely found in a local tea shoppe - a real treat to taste for lovers of fine Ceylon tea. The “first Dhool“ are the finest leaves after first round of processing are taken straight onto oxidation, while the remaining leaves are returned to the rolling machine. As a result the 1st Dhool maintains rich complexity of flavour and nuance due to its minimal manipulation. As one may expect of this estate tea, flavours to be enjoyed are fruity, malty and chocolatey, and the taster, when sipping slowly and mindfully, will remark on the many layers and a remarkable linger on the mid palette. While Sri Lankan tea is traditionally steeping in English style, it is delightful explore this tea using an eastern style using a small vessel and greater leaf to water ratio. May we recommend you take advantage of the rare opportunity to experience a 1st Dhool tea by using a gaiwan if you can, so you can reveal and explore the unveiling of the multi layers in this leaf! Its particularly delightful when a rare tea treat comes packaged at an extremely modest price point! Steeping Suggestion: 1 tsp/cup, 205˙F (95˙C), 3-4 min (1+ infusions)
