The tea fields for Gyokuro (“pearl dew” or “dew drops”) are shaded 3-4 weeks before harvest, which produces a boost of nutrients that define Gyokuro’s delicate sweet umami taste. After the leaves are harvested they are steamed, dried and kneaded. The resulting tea is a vibrant dark green, fine and carry the scent of sweet grass and green vegetables. This special grade is produced in Uji, Kyoto prefecture Japan, known for its high quality Gyokuro. beTeas is proud to offer this exceptional tea, procured for us by our dear friend, Momo Tea. Enjoy this mellow, sweet, vegetal cup on its own, or sip with a decadent sweet treat. Japanese green tea also pair well with vegetable dishes, fish and seafood. As Gyokuro is more delicate, steep in water that is cooler than for other green teas (140-170˙F/60-75˙C)
