Made from the first harvest leaves. This is a sweet, rich and full bodied matcha with a beautiful vibrant green colour. Fukuoka prefecture where this tea is grown, is located in Kyushu, which is an island on the southwest end of Japan. Though not the birthplace of Matcha, Fukuoka is said to be one of the first areas tea was grown in Japan.
Matcha is produced using leaves that have been shaded the final weeks before plucking in order to boost chlorophyll production in the tea plant, lending it a more vibrant green colour once harvested. The leaves go through several stages of production. In the final stage, ‘Tencha’ leaf is stone ground into a finely powdered form, producing the silky smooth powder that can be whisked into a vibrant emerald green cup of goodness!
Matcha is very easy to make. You can add it to anything. Traditionalists would whisk Matcha with hot water and drink it as a tea. You can also make it as a latte or put it in your morning smoothie! This excellent grade of matcha is of a high quality a nutritionist would approve of - yet also affordable enough to use for lattes and smoothies. Our beTeas founder would say, don't fall for cheap 'ingredient' grades of matcha, even for everyday use, because your health (and enjoyment!) is just too important! (Michelle would ask, how choosy do you feel you should be about what you put in your mouth?)
beTeas is proud to offer this premium green tea is produced by our partners, Hokusan of Japan.
