Chinese Keemun (a.k.a. Qimen) is referred to as the 'burgundy' of black teas due to its bright reddish infusion and winey and fruity characteristics, often compared to burgundy wines. This high grade, Keemun Panda #1, is one of the best known, and one of the most celebrated. Keemun is a "congu"or "gongfu" style tea, which means it requires great skill, or great labour in order to produce thin, tight strips without breaking the leaves. This tea is hand-sorted before firing, and again hand-sorted before packing. This production method also means that it is exceptionally rare tea. Keemun is also one the best-keeping black teas. Fine specimens, such as this one, will keep for years if stored properly, taking on a mellow winey character over time. Pair Keemun with vanilla, chocolate, spicy foods, cheeses, eggs, and breakfast foods.
