Autumn Tie Guan Yin, so-called due to its autumn harvest time, has all the wonderful attributes of a spring tie guan yin, but they are somehow more refined, calm and mature. It was hard to detect the fragrance of the dry leaves at first. However, after the rinse the leaves give off light floral aromas (orchid) and the liquor delivers a very balanced floral sweetness. The tea’s orchid aroma was wrapped in a comfy ‘roasty’ warming mouthfeel. Around the 5th infusion, I was getting even more of the floral fragrance, but the sweetness had dissipated leaving a rich and full mouthfeel.
